I pulled a fast one this weekend at Parkview. I did full makeup and dressed up to look like the “poor man in shabby clothes” from James chapter two.
Here is a link to show you the makeup in various stages. Smelly Bum
The unfortunate part is that I can’t help you with the smell through the internet. It was the smell that really made it believable. Even in our big auditorium people could smell me coming. It was a product actually called “Fart spray” that someone found at a gag store. It was supposed to be used at party settings to make it look like someone else passed gas. But I’m going to tell you I had three shots of it on my clothes in an 1800 seat auditorium and people were dry heaving around me. If it was you, I apologize. It certainly helped with my surprise.
You can watch the service to see how I interrupted it and started to preach. Let me just say I was exceptionally pleased with the way Parkview did not show favoritism against me and proved my point that this is a good church that doesn’t show prejudice in any way. Everyone was great, and it was fun to be on the other side and see PCC through those eyes.
I mean we all needed the sermon anyhow. We are biased in our attitudes in ways we don’t even notice anymore. But you guys did great.
James 2:12-13 Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!
I promise I’ll smell better this weekend. But I won’t promise that there won’t be some surprises.
One of the great things coming up this weekend will be Mosaic. My daughter Rachel is a part of this group. They will be leading worship and doing a Sunday night concert at 6 pm.
Hope you can make it.
Tim
It was Great this weekend...and you were a smelly smelly man...but still GODLY :)
checked out your pics, I'm getting a definite 'Mel Gibson' vibe out of pics 4 and 5 although I can't say why.
Way to go. bias smells too and can all use a change of clothes sometimes if we're honest.

And what a fine smelly bum you were! Just think, retail stores have secret shopper; Parkview has secret sinners!

Thank you for the message. God placed on my heart two things that I needed to resolve pertaining to this message on judging people. I can say that I was actually blessed by this. The one pertained to a co-worker. Not necessarily liked by others. The Lord really placed her on my heart. I asked her to lunch and you would have thought I gave her $1,000,000. But my heart was so softened by this. Thank you so much.

Hi, just want to say it's good to see people being impacted the way they are every week, and have been meaning to say thanks to Bob Spiel for his 'church bulletin' in his comment on your Lee Strobel blog...I really enjoyed it and laughed a bunch...see it can be fun to follow Christ :)

:: awesome idea ::
really good initiative to check where your people are, you can lose sight of those in economy while the pastor pimps First Class (the pulpit)...
nice //
