Dear Parkview,
Many of you got this mass email already if you are part of Parkview’s email list. I just want to make sure everyone knows what is going on here.
I’m so excited for those hundreds of you who are going to give tithing a shot for a period of time. I know God is going to bless you – He promised He would. (If you weren’t able to get to church the last two weekends, you can hear my sermons on “Jesus and the Dead Presidents” on our website’s sermon archives.)
In my quiet time, I had this Psalm this week;
Psalm 96
1Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. 7Ascribe to the Lord, O families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. 8Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. 9Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.
Notice it says that as we sing, declare, praise, we should bring an offering.
Don’t forget that we are all going to “try the tithe” for one weekend – next weekend – November 10th and 11th. (Heck…you could do two weekends, but just don’t forget!)
This weekend is going to rock.
DO NOT MISS THIS WEEKEND!
Invite everyone who has ever been to Parkview or ever thought about it, because I’m going to unpack the Vision for where we are headed. There are some amazing things in the works. And it will be a very inspirational service, with a couple of special elements that you won’t want to miss.
God is going to blow us away.
PLUS YOU GET AN EXTRA HOUR OF SLEEP! (Don’t forget to “fall back” an hour before you go to bed Saturday night!)
We’re also going to “Pack the Pantry” this weekend to help stock the local food pantries for the Holidays. Bring a bag of food and leave it on the hood of your car and we’ll get it to the right place. If you ride a motorcycle – just leave money :-)
Finally, don’t forget to sign up for my blog. It’s the best way for you to be able to keep up with stuff that’s going on here. And you can sign up to get an email reminder every time I post – which is usually twice a week. Just click on the email subscription link on the left sidebar!!
Just don’t miss this weekend. With God, it’s a No Brainer.
WE ARE PARKVIEW,
Tim
PS. As you may know, Planned Parenthood recently built an abortion clinic in Aurora. One of the ways they got around the law was to come up with a made-up company which they called Gemini Office Development. Unfortunately, the Glenn family, who are a part of our church and staff, own a construction company called Gemini Construction. Some people are putting apples and oranges together and are thinking that Gemini Construction built the abortion clinic. I just want you to know that this is not true. It was just an unfortunate coincidence that Planned Parenthood picked the same name, and there is nothing the Glenn’s can do about it. Let me tell you how untrue it is. Mike Glenn Sr. is the President of the Board for Pregnancy Aid South Suburbs (PASS), which is one of the best ministries in our area in helping unwed mothers decide to keep their babies. There couldn’t be anyone who would be LESS LIKELY to build an abortion clinic than Mike.
PSS. By now you’ve probably also seen the emails about this new kids’ movie that is coming out called The Golden Compass. This is one of those emails that actually IS true. Please do not go and support this movie. This will be a very softened version, but the premise of the series of books is “killing God.” Some are calling it the “Anti-Narnia.” You can check out the item on the Snopes website, which is not a religious website…you can read it there for yourself. Please discourage your friends and family from seeing this movie.
Hey Tim,
It's kinda funny how your unpacking the vision post pretty much left the vison packed up in the box. I guess you're trying to make sure we show up this weekend... with our tithe! : )
Well, I'll be there and you already have my tithe. (Electronic is so much easier!)
Looking forward to the real unpacking...
Dave

Hi Tim,
In reference to your comment about...The baby did occassionally get thrown out with the bath water...Since the "once a year" bath was traditionally taken in seniority order-from dad to baby...it was pretty hard to see the baby in the water by the time the baby got his bath.
As for the books-The Golden Compass. My daughter read them a year ago and was VERY surprised to discover any anti christian message in them. If read innocently they are not much different then any science fiction type story (...LIKE Star Wars) She was glad to have read them innocently before all the fuss. Perhaps, sometimes we make things out to be more then they need to be...
Yours in Christ,
Laura
